Since, cement manufacturing is a highly power intensive process, the company has incorporated a 15 MW Captive Thermal Power Plant to ensure continuous uninterrupted supply of power to the plant. The company also owns a mini Hydro Power Generation Unit and a battery of Windmills in Andhra Pradesh, which help in augmenting captive power supply to the plant.

DCL's coal based Captive Thermal Power Plant (CPP) is located within the premises of the cement plant. The rated capacity of the CPP is 15MW and was commissioned in the year 2009. The plant was supplied, erected and commissioned by Thermax Limited who is a pioneer in this field.

The plant comprises of a 76 TPH Thermax Brand Atmospheric Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler (AFBC) and an Impulse & Reaction System Turbine coupled to a 1500 RPM, 18 MW Genrator. The power generated is distributed through a switch yard adjoining the CPP.

The fly ash generated from the plant (approximate 150MT) is captively consumed in the manufacture of Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC).
